Comparative Effectiveness Research

There are many excellent doctors, nurses, and hospitals in America, but even the best providers could use some help keeping up-to-date on the latest technologies and treatments.

Comparative effectiveness research will give doctors and patients more information about what works and what doesn't work in our health system and help them work together to choose high-value medical care.

The new health reform law will create a Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute. This private, nonprofit entity will identify research priorities, provide guidelines for the conduct of research, and carry out research projects. Up-to-date, accurate research on which treatments, tests and drugs work best will empower doctors and patients to make informed decisions.
